The Tooth-What?!?
Gaby lost a tooth while playing outside the other day and threw it in the yard before coming in. Of course I was shocked she hadn't rushed in to put it under her pillow in expectation of what the tooth fairy might bring...
Gaby: The tooth-what?!?
Me: You know, she comes at night and trades you money for your tooth.
Gaby: Why?
Me: Because Gaby, eventually when you're old all your teeth will fall out, the tooth fairy saves your teeth and gives them back to you...they're called dentures.
Gaby: Ohh, but what about my other teeth I didn't trade?
Me: I guess you'll have gaps.
This is what I found her doing two minutes later...
To her dismay, she was not able to find her tooth...but we figured the tooth fairy wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the real thing and a pebble in the dark.
We were right.
Gaby said a pebble would be better than a gap. ;)

Gaby News
It had been difficult to find consistent transportation and a school able and willing to take Gaby this school year. I just wanted to let everyone know Gaby had a great first week at her new school. God is Good!

More Visitors...
Some of my favorite people, who are also Gaby's future adoptive parents, blessed us with a weekend visit. Gaby was whisked away for a full day of adventures with David and Kathy, which included fun at the waterpark and mall! The following day, David brought his guitar for some worship and his wallet for some pizza with us. Thanks David for not only helping me to instill in these girls the love of worship, but also the love of pizza and now, air guitar!

Please continue to keep Gaby's adoption in your prayers!

Those Cheeks!!
Denia was able to visit with her younger brother after church one Sunday. He now lives at Heart 2 Heart Orphanage, where all the children attend our church every week.

Angela's Visit
The girls and I were blessed with a visit from my older sister Angela.
Her first day here we brought some arts and crafts to the preschool.

We picked up Elvira and Sarai after their classes at the university for a visit to the public orphanage.

Angela treated the girls to the arcade at the San Pedro mall.

Aracely challanged Yuri to a match of "Dance Dance Revolution"...

Come back soon Angela!

Or we'll be mad!!

Lilian
We met Lilian through one of our doctors at the local hospital, after she was admitted for parasites and malnutrition.
Lilian lives in extreme poverty with her family. There are no beds and little food in the wooden shack home her father built in a small mountain village close to the border of Guatemala.
Lilian is 19 years old, but looks eight. Doctors have not identified her condition.
After expressing her desire to study, Lilian came for a week long visit to our home. She experienced many new things; sleeping in a bed, her first haircut and blow dry, pizza, going to the mall, etc... At the end of the week she was excited to return to her home and tell of all the adventures she went on and all the new experiences she had with us.
Before and after pics of her first haircut by Ruth.

Lilian has decided to remain with her family for now. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

Colors in the sky

The girls were excited to see "colors in the sky" outside of our house.
I heard from the sky a rainbow is an entire circle. Just like a wedding ring symbolizes a continuous covenant until death the rainbow symbolizes the same continuous covenant between God and us.

Just Sad
26 Dead, 19 Injured After Bus Plunges off Highway in Honduras
A passenger bus plunged off a highway and rolled 500 yards down a hillside in western Honduras on Tuesday, killing 26 people and injuring at least 19, authorities said.
Emergency personnel worked to free people from the twisted wreckage near the border with El Salvador.
"This is a terrible tragedy that will cause mourning in a lot of poor families," Carlos Cordero, the head of the national firefighters force, said in a telephone interview. "We are making superhuman efforts to rescue survivors."
The 26 dead included at least three children and 16 women, all thrown from the bus by the force of the crash. Several of the injured were in serious condition, Cordero said.
The accident happened on a stretch of highway so high and treacherous that it is known as "The Angel's Flight."
Investigators said mechanical problems may have played a role in the crash.
Let's keep the injured and the families of people who passed away in our prayers.
Bad road conditions, reckless bus drivers and faulty buses is a major problem in a country where its people depend on public transportation to survive.
