HELP US FEED THE NEIGHBORS
The crisis of COVID-19 has heightened the existing problem of hunger in Honduras. Government food programs set in place during this time are not reaching everyone and mass hunger is stirring up panic and fear. As more restrictions are put into place, getting food is increasingly difficult. EFP is stepping in to fill this need among our neighbors and a local community. Will you help us feed these families in great need? Our total goal to raise is: $6,350. This will provide for 30 families and allow us to ensure we have enough food to keep our own family fed while also sharing with neighbors in need.
Goal 1: Colonia la Almendra has 500 residents, most of which live in poverty. Five families are in extreme need, unable to purchase anything. We want to provide for their needs for this month by partnering with a pulperia owner in their community with whom we trust. $6 per day will meet their minimum needs, meaning just $180 will feed a family for a month. We would also like to relieve these 5 families plus 25 more from the debt ($1,950) they are unable to pay at their local pulperia. $2,850 is the total we are asking for to provide for these families.

Goal 2: Due to restrictions and limited availability of groceries, we have unfortunately been in a position of not having enough food and paying over 100% increases in basic food items, such as chicken, to ensure our family is fed. A neighboring family comes by our house about once a week asking for anything we are able to share. Previously, we were in a position to share things like a few plates of dinner and items from our cabinet. In order for us to be in a position to provide for our neighbors, it’s important we have a sufficient supply of food. We would like to continue serving our neighbors, especially as the need becomes greater the more time people are unable to work. Our usual monthly grocery bill totals $2,000. In order to accommodate for our family in these times and serve our neighbors as needed, we are asking for an additional $1,500. This enables us to: 1. Stock up on long-term items in case of food shortages and restrictions; 2. Provide meals/food to our neighbors as they have a need; 3. Continue to feed our family healthy and full meals during this crisis. $3,500 is our goal to meet our family and neighbors' needs.
We understand that many in our EFP Family have new financial burdens they are learning how to carry. Our global community is struggling through this crisis, but we have HOPE and FAITH in God’s incredible power and provision for each of us. Please pray over if you are in a position to give toward this important need. Remember, just $6 will feed a family for a day. We are all getting through this one day at a time, but through generosity, prayer, and community, EFP believes we can carry each other through this. If you are unable to give personally, we invite you to share this with others who may be able. And please let us know how we can pray for YOU during this time.
To all of our EFP community- We love you and we pray provision, safety, and health over you.
