Ballet recitals are always fun. The adrenaline during the last days of practice, the excitement of getting the turns right for the show, and not least the costumes; the new tights, fancy dresses, doll face make up, and fairylike tutus that make everybody look like (and feel like) princesses. It is a day they all look forward to.
Some of the girls might argue though, that the amount of hairspray that goes into eyes and nose no matter how much you try to shield your face is not princess worthy. While it makes the older girls’ hair stay no matter the amount of jumps and turns on stage, the younger ones have trouble even making the hairdo last for the car ride to the theater, but they are learning and look adorable anyway.
This year the performance was “The Nutcracker”. The girls enjoyed the story and they were the most beautiful dolls, the sweetest candy, and the fiercest soldiers we have seen in a long time.
