Happy New Year

Hi everyone,

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! We were very blessed by our family, friends and support churches and had quite a few presents to open under the tree this year. The girls were very excited, and after a yummy breakfast we gathered in a circle to open gifts. The joy on each girl’s face was priceless. In an effort to share the happiness with you from afar, we have a video slideshow of Christmas!

After a scrumptious BBQ, we had a birthday cake for Jesus! All the girls sang a rather loud chorus of Happy Birthday, and those Christmas verses found in Isaiah seemed to drift in the air:

For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counselor,
The Mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:5-7

This new year, let us hold on to the hope we have in the Prince of peace! Feliz Cumpleanos, Jesus! And to the supporters who bless us in the name of Jesus: Thank you!

Happy Birthday Jenci

Jenci turned 3 on October 30th. We had a party for her on the 31st and played carnival games and then dressed up as princesses and went treating. They don’t do trick-or-treating here, so we baked cookies and cakes and gave them away to the neighbors instead.

Happy Birthday Sarai

Sarai turned six on October 11th. We went to Pizza Hut to celebrate. The girls had a blast, as always, playing on the indoor playground and, of course, eating pizza!

Rubenia

Rubenia (Ruby), joined the EFP family a little more than a week ago. She’s a beautiful, spunky, little nine year old with freckles and blond hair. She had been living on the streets of San Pedro Sula because her family wasn’t able to care for her. She has severe scarring and lost her left foot and two fingers when she was three years old from an accidental fire, but none of that slows her down. She loves running, with a crutch, and playing with the her new sisters. She doesn’t speak any English, but I think she’ll catch on quickly.

Our New Playground

Thank you to everyone who gave to give the girls of Eternal Family Project an incredible playground. A group from Tennessee came down a couple of weeks ago and built a boat in our yard for the girls to play in/on. The girls love it. There are three swings, a tire swing, a climbing wall, a captain’s nest – with a steering wheel, gymnastics rings, an upper and lower deck, a hammock inside, and a slide on it’s way to Honduras. They also got hot water into the shower! Here are a few pictures and a video of the the new boat.

Post-presidential removal

Hi everyone.
Just wanted to give a quick update on what’s going on here. We are all fine. All things are calm here, we’re safe and haven’t came into contact with any protesting. The people of Honduras far and wide seem very happy with the outcome of Sunday’s events. We are currently under a 9pm – 6am curfew, and the girls haven’t had classes at the university this week. Yesterday we took some friends to the airport in San Pedro Sula, all seemed normal in the city. The only thing noticeable was the military presence at the airport and on the streets throughout the city. There is no panic here and the US Embassy is telling everyone just to abide by the curfews and to avoid any gatherings. Please continue to pray for our safety and for the people of Honduras as they seem to be facing Goliath in defending the democracy of Honduras.
